The Big Fiddle Band is a great place to play great music - whatever your ability - make friends and help raise money for great causes.
The ethos of the band is very much about community. Our members range from under confident beginners to accomplished players. We have several families playing together and the ages range from 8 to 84!
The repertoire is a mix of traditional tunes and newly written pieces - all of which are given interesting musical arrangements which are challenging enjoyable for players and listeners alike. The tunes are drawn from all the great fiddle traditions - English Scottish Irish Welsh American French Italian Swedish Russian Ukrainian to name a few! All tunes are learnt by ear and we use drop box to share recordings and sheet music to aid practise at home.
Over the years we have performed at Festivals, weddings,village fetes, in art galleries, shopping centres, underneath an aquaduct and even at the the top of our local church tower! We have also held many of our own fundraising concerts.If you would like us to perform for you please get in touch.
